    that we're more virtuous than Christians, but I tend to think it probably isn't so. Greedy bastards seem to belong to every form of belief and non-belief. How people like that live with themselves, is what's hard to understand. I guess religion provides one answer, but simply believing that you're inherently better and somehow entitled to more than the next person seems to work well enough for plenty of non-religious folk I've encountered. Then there's always what I believe is the hugely underestimated contingent of people who don't believe but say they do because it's socially convenient.

    They may have a bible on the shelf, but who says they believe.

      But there is a certain sort of entitled sanctimony that pervades some groups of believers, that's a different sort of poison than wholly individual egotism and hubris.
