  •  That is a really wonderful initiative all around. (8+ / 0-)

The benefits will be real and long lasting. We have about a hundred acre array ($4 million) in my town in Ontario (Canada) installed by our local utility which also added a new small hydro project ($12 million). Ontario has feed-in-tariff legislation much like Germany's and intends to phase out coal as an electricity source.

We have only just begun and none too soon.

    •  Ontario should put in some rooftop solar, also. (2+ / 0-)

It requires much less additional wiring.

the FIT takes very small proposals. One neighbor up the street from me has panels as do several commercial buildings downtown. I am going to replace my roof next year and after that I will look into it. My house is oriented with the largest section of roof aimed more or less due south.

We have only just begun and none too soon.
