    The P-40 is one of my heart felt favorites.  I have 5 of 6 in the que Everything from the Hawk 81 to the P-40N with a P-36 on the side.

    I'm guessing that that's a gear door that hasn't retracted yet.  Does that intercooler look slightly familiar?

        horse of a different color:
        XP-51

        The XP-40 also had the aft mounted intercooler.  Supposedly, management HATED it, and went with the forward intercooler.  I wonder if an unhappy designer went west and got a new job at North American???
