    for years. He flew bombing runs during the Vietnam War, then SAC, moved around a bit, worked out of the Pentagon and was in Cheney's office before he ended his carrier during Bush's first term.

    He talks about SAC some but not much. It was cool for me to read your diary and see the plane and cockpit. Thanks for the diary!

      Kind of hard to tell from the Wikipedia history of the base, but it probably had B-29s at that time, if any active aircraft at all. It kind of went through a lull right in there ( early 1949).

      Her family went through Offut AFB later on, in the 50s. Her father retired as a Colonel in 1963, having started when the AF was part of the Army about 30 years before.

      Moderation in most things.
