    Lots of critics of well-established scientific ideas usually have their educational accolades in an unrelated field of science that they feel they have a total mastery of.

    It's one of the best ways to spot quackery.  It's also common as a belief that mastery in one area can bring mastery in all areas.

    Why is being a business executive the only good qualification for someone to be a politician?  Government has to do two things for the private sector that most business people are not going to have any experience with.

    Social work.  And investment in pure scientific research.

    I'd like to see more social workers and scientists in high office.  Maybe then we can have decent educational programs and decent space-exploration programs.
