  •  Re: Syria (7+ / 0-)

So what is the solution? There seems to me to be a resemblance to the Spanish Civil war with the Russians and the Chinese playing the part of the Germany and the rebels representing the Republican forces. The outsiders (read jihadists/AQ) would be similar to the International Brigades.

This time it appears that the rebels might succeed even though the government has created their own Guernicas in more than one Syrian city.

I'm just saddened by the whole thing having been on the wrong once myself.

White-collar conservatives flashing down the street, pointing their plastic finger at me..

    •  If America didn't have such a brutal (5+ / 0-)

recent history of bombing Muslims, it might be possible to make a cogent moral case that Syria is the proper arena for American intervention.

We can't unwind the past though, and any actions we take in Syria will always be seen in the context of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia. Our hands are permanently red with blood; no war we engage in now can ever be "just."

When you triangulate everything, you can't even roll downhill...
