  •  Because, once again , we have allowed the nature (18+ / 0-)

of the discussion to automatically preclude any additional spending.
To advocate for medicare for all or Single Payer is struck from the bargaining table as a given just to get all the parties to the bartering table, because it represents additional spending and everyone knows, ask Boehner et al, that deficits are caused by spending too much.
Never mind the fundamental difference in spending to fix a broken healthcare system that is hemorrhaging money and forcing millions to use the ER as primary facility.
Instead of using the credit card to start and operate two endless wars- little difference there.

If the Good Guys would only say here's what we're going to do- really fix healthcare, really create a jobs program, really rebuild and finance infrastructure and educate for a technological future- it will pay for itself by getting the economy moving, getting people healthy and back to work and there won't be a deficit because it will be a viable , balanced economy instead of this duct taped, band-aided and bubble-gummed hobbled together thing that makes certain interests prosper to the detriment of the rest of us.

We won. We have home field advantage and the sun is to our backs. Get ready to spend a lot of time squinting into the glare, Mr. Boehner, because we have a mandate to restore our nation for the future.

    Something like that....   :)
