        broadcast. they are sent via satellite. You have to be a cable subscriber to get them. We own the airwaves and lease them to broadcast networks. Satellite is privately owned and delivered through a dish or cable connection. Cable companies have agreements with local governments to allow cable company to operate in a locale.

        You make a really good point about media ownership and monopolies. But no serious monopoly prosecution has happened since the Carter years. If you are serious about breaking up big media than I am afraid you have the wrong President. Given the way the FCC operates Obama seems to like the staus quo and leans towards the side of the telecoms over the people.
