    but, regardless of the forces that pushed him in that direction, he was the last GOP president to pass anything that actually helped the environment.  

    Which is the greater profile in courage?  Nixon signing the Endangered Species Act, or Obama signing the Defense Reauthorization Act?  The Clean Water Act?  Or appropriating billions of dollars to build a new data storage facility where the NSA can house and archive every email that has ever been sent by every citizen...just in case they need to peruse them down the road.

    Nixon was dishonest and paranoid.  Obama is gregarious and charismatic, and doesn't sweat during a nationally televised presidential debate.  But the national security aparatus he has authored over the past 4 years would probably make Nixon's face go slack in utter disbelief.

    Oregon: Sure...it's cold. But it's a damp cold.
