    ...along with blogger Bob Cesca:

There Should Be a Mental Competence Test for Politicians

If you’re deemed as mentally imbalanced as Allen West (or Bachmann or Steve King or Louie Gohmert), you should be disqualified from running for Congress.

I’m totally serious about coming up with a way to keep psychotic people out of Congress.

Or is being insane while in Congress now a human right?

    Or, would  that be discrimination?

"psychotic." That only stigmatizes people with actual mental illnesses. Psychotic disorders should not disqualify someone from public office if properly treated.

The way I see it, there are people with mental illness, and there are crazy people. The overlap between the two is minimal. Let's not use medical terms to talk about fringe politicians.

I have a problem with sociopaths, psychopaths, schizophrenics, narcissists, and folks afflicted with Munchausen syndome by proxy or otherwise, PTSD, psychosis treated or otherwise, as well as folks using their brain stems for critical thinking processes and decision-making -- holding public office in the Federal Government.

Is that so much to ask?

...folks who believe the world is coming to an end, that they will be raptured up to heave in their physical bodies, that Jesus is coming back for an encore, that they will be the ruler of their own planet after death, that a woman's right place is in submission to man, and that have one too many invisible friends.

Also, anyone who you would not trust to babysit your children.

It's about time this nation gained a little self respect when it comes to screening their leaders.

Psychosis is NOT disqualifying. You're tarring all people with mental illnesses with the same brush, and it's just repugnant.
