for drawing districts, with a one-time inter-census wholesale redrawing of every house district along lines that properly represent the people of each state and aren't clearly intended to put a member of a given party that seat.

Rachel Maddow did a segment tonight to illustrate just how insane the 2010 redistricting was. For example, although only slighly more people voted for Repubs than Dems in Ohio this past election, it will be sending 12 Repubs to 4 Dems to the house next year. That's NUTS.

Obviously, we don't have anywhere near the votes to make it happen, and I can't address the constitutionality of such a radical move. But damn, by all counts Pelosi should be the speaker, not Boehner. Over half a million more people voted for house Dems than house Repubs this past election!

Half a million more votes for the Dems. Hmm, when has that happened before...

where more people actually voted for a Democrat for state senate, but that body remained two-thirds Republican. Now both houses are apparently veto-proof majorities GOP. I hear a lot of handwringing about how they can put issues directly on the ballot now. I'm not worried about that. In fact, I hope they do. Putting Personhood and Right to Work for Less (the biggies they've been unable to collect enough signatures for) on the ballot will sweep all Republicans out of statewide office in 2014.

I'm more worried about the legislation they might pass bankrupting our schools, privatizing the turnpike, cutting the state income tax which will destroy budgeting across the state for the foreseeable future, and most of it goes to — yup, you guessed it — the wealthy!

is like leaving the front door to your house unlocked with a big "take whatever you want" sign on the yard while you're away for the week. These people are incorrigible sociopaths and they will not stop until we stop them.
