  •  Absolutely a social science (0+ / 0-)

In that you can't set up controlled experiments, but by making observations of the behavior of people you can deduce certain principles and make testable predictions.

The Keynesian school has done pretty well predicting the course of events over the last 5 or 6 years.

The Austrian school has been predicting hyperinflation any ... day ... now for 4 years. The Austrians are NOT economists, though, as they don't make testable predictions.

If you listen to the supply side school, the crash of 2008 could not have happened. So they run around looking for some way the government caused it.

The fact that many prominent think-tank economists are putting ideology ahead of actual math is because of pride and money.

Economics is a social *science*. Can we base future economic decisions on math?

influence on politics, and therefore quite a bit more effort is spent corrupting the scientists.
