  •  Republican Thumb In the Eye (7+ / 0-)

The CT Republican Party literally threw its candidate under the bus and the train when Lieberman started his independent run for the US Senate.  They chortled all the way to the election with this opportunity to stick their thumb in the eye of the Democratic Party in the state.  They knew that their own candidate had almost no chance of getting elected, so they just abandoned him to obscurity.  The MSM in CT didn't help much, allowing Lieberman to say anything his heart desired with zero challenges during the campaign either.  We should also not forget that Ned Lamont, the official Democratic candidate, received very little support from other national Democratic leaders of any sort and that the CT Democratic leadership somnolently walked through the campaign choosing to believe Lieberman's assertions that he would continue to support the Democrats in the Senate and elsewhere.
