      In Against Method he claims that Galileo disregarded most of the accepted principles of science when he formulated his theory, and argues that a strict application of the scientific method would lead one to come down on the side of the church.  

      He's not saying, of course, isn't that Galileo was wrong, but rather something about the reality vs. the theory of scientific research.  It's quite a wonderful book, actually.

        One has to understand "Science" in the context of how it was practiced in their lifetimes.  The scientific method had not been invented.
