    Let's ignore the fact this was an elementary school.  You're suggesting that armed civilians both can and should kill would-be shooters before they act?

    I've seen people make the argument that civilian gun owners can and would stop gun rampages already in progress.  That argument is wrong, and that's not how any of these events actually play out, even in places where people ARE carrying guns (see Tucson).  But this...

    This is an idolization of pre-crime vigilantism.  It is not merely wrong, it is repulsive.

      the Bureau of PreCrime.  I don't think we're there yet.

      But sometime between the first shot and the hunredth shot?  Yes.

      It could not have made things worse.

      And it has happened, many times.
