    •  no, actually, if the firing uncovers (6+ / 0-)

the corrupt nature of the outfit starving children for profit in schools.

She's what's known as a whistle-blower, except she went about it in a way that kept the kid from starving -- probably for about a month, given what school lunches cost.

calling everything or anything regarding an employee as whistle-blowing. It was not, she was not in any sense a whistle blower. Go look it up.

And also look up corrupt. You really do need rules. The school should take on the responsibility of seeing that every family has the help if needed to access the appropriate benefits. This sort of thing is what can happen when you out source the cafeteria function and just dump it as a problem area.

        •  did you see the diary update? The woman's been (0+ / 0-)

          reinstated.
It will be worthwhile to watch and see if she gets to remain at this job, because what she did here -- even though in the long run something good has come of it -- brought to light a lack of training and a lack of understanding of the company's policies that are important.

I realize that this doesn't fit some definitions of whistleblower. I think she qualifies for getting a light shined onto the way her supervisor and coworker behaved toward children.
