    Explain to me why a person set on shooting as many children as possible would be stopped by a 500 foot rule?  Isn't it illegal to shoot children?  Why didn't that rule work?  You have to be able to answer that question or what you propose is meaningless.

    If you want to take away individual gun ownership rights, it must be done at the individual level, through due process and a jury of one's peers.  If a man is found to be mentally unsound, then that person can be stripped of his rights.  But a person who can't be trusted with a gun pretty much needs to be locked up for life in a padded cell. Are you prepared for that?

    The real question for you though is, how do you identify the Jared Loughners of the world before they've comitted a crime?  Racial profiling?  Make up a thought crime?  How?

      FACT - Western Europe has much stronger gun laws than the US

      FACT - the gun murder rate in Western Europe is much lower than the US

      These are facts.. this isn't some nebulous subject.
