    My husband and I are picking up our baby--a six-foot-four college sophomore--tonight to bring him home for winter break.

    I will hug him too hard.  I will cry when I see him.  I'm remembering when school closed early on 9/11 and I had to pick him up and explain what happened.

    But the Connecticut killer was "one of ours."  In its way, more horrible and inexplicable for those parents who will never be whole again.

    I will be saying Kaddish for the victims this year, a drop of water in the world's oceans.

    Damn guns!
