Cry? I prefer finally taking action to prevent this from happening again.

Let those who want to act, act.

The former will eventually join the latter. :)

      What kind of action?

It's what the UK eventually did after they had their version of this shooting. It was called the Dunblane massacre, and also involved more than a dozen K-aged children killed by a gunman (along with their teacher) in a primary school.

It's meaningful action. It leads to change.

      •  I'd love to see him... (0+ / 0-)

Call the head of the NRA to the White House for either a public ass chewing. Barring that, twisting his arm to say that after five years of propaganda about Obama coming for their guns, the NRA has hurt his ability to actually do something, so YOU Mr. NRA head, are going to step up and propose serious changes to the gun laws.
Put it back on them if he would be reflexively resisted...

      •  Ban all handguns and semiautomatic weapons (0+ / 0-)

whether they are handguns or long guns. Strict control on bolt action or single shot rifles designed for hunting. Strict control of ammo. Testing for mental stability and background checks for past violence. And hard prison time for breaking of these laws...

I guess Hell's just the place for "kiss ass politicians" who pander to assholes.

to question people who DO choose to cry today?  You know, it is a day of national tragedy.  We all see our children and our families among those going through hell today.  If you want to go activist defcon -- go for it.  But for most people, they are in shock and horror and they need a president to be their comforter in chief today.  Given his actual words, I am willing to bet he is not going to be offering only platitudes in the future.  He intimated action regardless of the politics.  That was good to hear; so was the sound of his voice breaking; and so were his words of care for all the people who are suffering today.

    •  Have you taken action at the local level? (0+ / 0-)

At your city council, your county government?

Do your state representatives know you will vote for a candidate who takes on gun regulation?

Have you told them what regulations you would support and why?
