Elections DO have consequences and hopefully President Obama will, in time, lead us on this issue.

Wonders are many, but none so wonderful as man.

      •  I may be more hopeful than you on this stevej (0+ / 0-)

If there was one single very LOUD message to come out of this last election it is that Rich Old White Men no longer can control our voice and we can make ourselves heard.

There have to be many groups ready to work on this problem. President Obama does not have the time to be a community organizer — others have to step up to the plate.

He gave a stirring speech in Tucson but there was no meaningful movement on the ground.

This time might do it. There have been a swelling of donations to anti gun groups and more of a reaction in the press than before.

What will do the most to prevent future tragedies like this one are more mental health services, education in general about mental illness and lessening of stigma about mental illness and all forms of treatments.

Too many times families think they can cope — if they just try harder. Parents need more sources of help.

I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about real change in Washington ... *I'm asking you to believe in yours.* Barack Obama
