Who was the "one" person who gave a speech today, the news outlets reported that the president would be speaking at a certain time, and they carried it, reported on it.

So that phrase "one person" as if it's insignificant is wrong.

And if you think this is what's happening:

"almost never has change happened by yelling just at the President to do something."

Then I feel sorry that you're missing the greater point and most important point.

Excuses are endless, I know.  But have it.

I mean, did you miss this part of my comment?:

The pressure must be on the President - and Democrats, and Republicans, in Congress, in our state legislatures, in all the corridors of power.
My view of change is different from yours.  I do not believe the "bully pulpit" and the office of the Presidency are nearly as all-powerful as you seem to believe.

History is littered with Presidents who used the bully pulpit but accomplished nothing because there was no popular support or movement or organization or energy to back what those Presidents were trying to get done (see JFK, Hillarycare, Social Security privatization, FDR post-1937, LBJ post-1965).

If you don't "believe" that the leader of the free world has any significant influence, again, I can't help you.

has significant influence.  But not nearly as much as you seem to think.
