  •  Make him do it! (10+ / 0-)

Fact of the matter is he doesn't have congress to do a damn thing and unless there is GREAT popular call for something to be done - he can't do it alone.

Quite frankly it's too dangerous for him.  He needs to lead from behind on this issue.

...because he has the megaphone of the nation. He can use it to talk about the changes we need, even if he doesn't have the power to put them into place directly himself.

meaning some RW white nutso would shoot him? Quite frankly this administration seems to have no problem with state sanctioned violence. Maybe it would help if as a nation we weren't at the bottom of the violent slippery slope that started with 9/11.

We have out of control cops armed paramilitary style running around killing black people or anybody who steps out of line. We have drones killing people in their own lands and then declaring them potential terrorists or militants. We torture people and watch TV shows that glorify guns and violence and pump the fear.

Fear everywhere combined with access to inappropriate weapons and a public that has been softened to hate and kill whatever or whoever threatens them on any level. Appearing like a strong man under the guise of 'keeping us safe' is just more of the same insanity. How much money do we spend to out gun every nation on earth? Does that protect us? No it just creates more violence and feeds our national sickness.

I don't think it would be dangerous for the president to actually talk about reigning in our out of control violence and try to mitigate the fear mongering. I found 'Bin Laudin is dead GM is Alive' to be chilling as both a human being and a Democrat. I find the drones appalling as well as kill lists. So no I don't expect this administration to do a damn thing to curb gun violence. Jeeze they might look like wusses and it's a dangerous world so bomb baby bomb and shoot, shoot, shoot.

Seems to me that this problem like is systemic and it runs through every part of our culture top to bottom. It's also big money for those who make a big killing off killing. Culture wars feed by politics and fear of other also do not help. Once again our chickens come home to roost these are domestic chickens but they have been feed the same violent fearful hate that picks up a gun and kills whatever they decide is a threat or an insult. We're living with generation kill and fear just feeds it. Protection and self defense has become another word for killing and violence against anything or one that is 'other'.

It's too dangerous for him?!  He is the goddamn president and he wasn't elected by the people to play in the fucking kiddie pool.

You lead from the front and if he doesn't then he is a coward.
