  •  One of the things I noted in a reporter's (6+ / 0-)

    comments was 'how nice the houses in the neighborhood were' (paraphrasing). I am sure nothing was intentionally meant by the comment, but it reinforced to me how much of the country turns a blind eye to violence in poor areas where the houses are not so nice.

      The mass shootings tend to be in suburban areas.  We tend to ignore the daily shootings in many cities.  I live in Philadelphia.  There are daily shootings in many neighborhoods in Philly as well as Camden.  But one at a time and in black neighborhoods rather than suburbs seems to be tolerated.  Even though most of these killings are also young people, many of them children.
