Have cops do something useful for a change.

The fact the herb is illegal and weapons for mass murder are not because "freedom!" baffles me.

I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.

purchases are not as well enforced as they could be, and better screening and better enforcement is necessary, whichever side of the 2ndA debate one is on.
That is something PBO can push for now while we here war with the NRA and each other over what better laws there may be that could be
      1. proposed
      2. passed
      3. enforced

That said, I see my PD arresting ex felons and probationers on gun and weapons charges all the time, that's good, altho many ex felons are peaceful and don't cause anyone poblems, they are now prevented and so is anyone else in the household from possession even in the home, not the street or road or vehicle, but in the, a target.
Don't have an answer for that...

When the PD bust a grow house they confiscate all the guns the growers need, or think they need to protect themselves against gang home invasions, a very real problem.

Even criminals have got the right to self defense even for the crime of growing MJ and sales. So yet another unpopular issue in the gun control gun access discussion.

But that leads us back to another solution:

So, a second thing PBO could do, in however way he has to, effectively END MJ prohibitions asap.
Why this is an effective solution: free the PD up from MJ arrests and
      * the grow house issues go away
      * the illegal trespass in the forest or on another's land, being defended by gangs with guns, trip wire guns, probably even robot guns by now...that all goes away somewhere...
      * free the PD up to do police work, arrest heroin dealers and worse,  far worse, Meth dealers who are a scourge everywhere.
      * Mexican cartels are hit/weakened, the us coast isn't invaded by pot smugglers
      * frees up money for treatment facilities for those that need it
      * frees up prison money for those incarcerated for possession and minor sales, probation and release for major sellers if no violence in prison

These are a couple of things PBO could do real soon...I bet there are plenty of other ways to make a safer world where people are in less fear...

        protect their drugs.

Ending pot prohibition would help, but criminals would still use guns to protect crack and harder drugs.

Gun and drug smuggling is bad, and is illegal.

The NRA exists to make gun smuggling as easy as possible.  The US is the Columbia of illegal weapons.

when they are being attacked  by home invasion crews...the fact they are criminals growing weed means they get fined and a year or three in jail, not a death penalty. If they had a shoot out with an invasion crew they would be happy to survive and be arrested for possession of a gun in the act of a crime: growing weed.

They still have legal and human rights even if they are criminals for the crime of growing weed..and having a gun on the premises is an extra crime when popped for growing/possession.
It is really uncommon for a grow house to have at least a shotgun and maybe three or more, or rifles and handguns, and the Ak47, Ar15 type weapons as well...and this is another big reason for PBO to asap legalize it to get these guns and the need for them out of the neighborhoods where many of these grow houses exist...there may be one, likely is, near you.

The huge forest grow workers don't even seem to run from the PD now, often just getting a ticket and a fine. Their pot, guns, money seized, any owners or bosses arrested.

Preventing/threatening/brandishing guns at  cops in a legal search is a huge extra crime, and some do compound their trouble, but few have here in a long time and there are maybe 3-6 houses busted in the area weekly...don't remember any shooting or standoffs.

Often there are children in the house as well.

And states like Arizona have their own laws to the degree states get to, and it's very different set of laws from california. Arizona is where the straw purchase fiasco was..they were after about 20 straw purchasers, this guy convicted was a Meth head.

Chase that evil weed indeed tho...

          •  And what about grandma next store? (0+ / 0-)

Most of kids killed by guns in America aren't killed by school shootings, they're killed in the crossfire while criminals fight over drugs. Here's a thought, the criminals should give up their drugs instead of getting into shootouts over them, ans killing innocent people in the proccess
