  •  I was in my 7th period when my TA told me that 26 (6+ / 0-)

were dead in CT.  All I could say was oh my god and then there are way too many guns in America.  My students are 17 and 18 years old.  I plan on having a discussion on this in a few days.

    •  Our special education department (3+ / 0-)

had just finished our holiday luncheon, and then I went to one of my campuses to do assessments. I hadn't checked my email for a while, but I went to the office of a colleague who informed me what had happened. We are nowhere near Connecticut, but many, many concerned and frightened parents came early to pick up their kids. These gun extremists have no right to put every other reasonable person in this country through that kind of panic and fear, just so they can play with killing machines. It's beyond insane. Parents have enough to worry about already.

    •  I'd be interested to hear about (0+ / 0-)

your discussion and what your students have to say.

      •  I have to be careful as I teach science. (0+ / 0-)

But I will find a way to get their thoughts.  I did talk with a former student via FB who has always supported republicans and she says we need better gun regulations.  She is in her early 20's.  I think that the younger voters would be eager for stricter gun laws.
