because the NRA has produced the gun crazy culture that causes massacres like Newtown, like Clackamas, like Aurora, like... shit the list goes on for way too long.

And groups like RKBA provide needed support for the crazies in the NRA, smuggling their ideology even into progressive sites like the Daily Kos, making it harder for us to develop a consensus on the necessity for gun control, and therefore impossible for us to use this space as an effective organizing tool to promote gun control in the United States.

The conversation needs to change.  When RKBA agrees to change their tone -- to distance themselves clearly from the false rightwing notion that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms -- then I'd support their continued presence here.

Right now, though, in my mourning for the dead children and teachers, I consider RKBA to be the enemy.  As responsible for those deaths as if they had pulled the trigger themselves.

The Supreme Court has affirmed that the Second Amendment creates an individual right to keep and bear arms.  While we may disagree with the Court's ruling, it is the law of the land, not a "false rightwing notion".  Gun control legislation must take into account District of Columbia v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago, which seem to call for a middle-of-the-road approach.
