  •  So she plans to ban sale of future items? (0+ / 0-)

Which will simply leave millions of the guns and magazines around.  Effectively worthless as a law if the aim is to prevent gun violence.  Instead of using a semi automatic rifle with a 30 round magazine, one can simply use a semi automatic pistol or two with multiple magazines and cart the same amount of ammunition around.  Sure you would not have access to magazines of 20, 30 or even 100 rounds, but it does not take long to swap them.

Banning the weapons themselves will also not work, given existing supply and the way the flowchart worked to define a weapon as an assault weapon or not an assault weapon.  Easy to get around while preserving the ability to accept magazines of 10 and greater in size.  Banning bayonet lugs is just silly I must add.

I would greatly prefer improvements in gun tracking, I believe a previous diary mentioned the lack of a proper electronic database, improving the background check system so gunshows can be covered and other good ideas.  I just see this as a ready to go pet project that will burn up a great deal of effort to get passed that might be used to get more effective legislation passed.

    •  You do realize that many of these mass casualty (0+ / 0-)

shootings have ended when the shooter stopped to reload and was tackled, right?

In theory a person could carry a revolver with speed loads.  It "only takes half a second".

Ever notice, though, that these guys never do?

This place needs a PVP server.
