  •  Oh, he cuddles... (12+ / 0-)

especially when he's hungry.  He loves to snuggle.  But ... y'know, watching him at the vet, when he kept wanting to retreat to his cat carrier...well, I thought, let's leave the door open -- and sure enough, it is his own little refuge.

    Cute lil Buddy.

To make the argument that the media has a left- or right-wing, or a liberal or a conservative bias, is like asking if the problem with Al-Qaeda is do they use too much oil in their hummus. Al Franken

    •  I had a large dog carrier... (8+ / 0-)

... into which I could fit my two kitties with room to spare when traveling.  I lined it with a pillow and pillowcase, a bit of catnip below that.  The girls fit in there, I took them to the car.  I put it in the front seat, seat-belted it in with the door facing me so they could see me.  For the first five minutes of traveling both complained, but then, 'cuz they could see me, and I was right there for them, they calmed down and slept for the rest of any journey.  We didn't travel together often, but I had it anyway.

When not in use, I disassembled the carrier, took off the door (which, I thought, could close and lock accidentally if I wasn't around, and there was enough sharp edges to be dangerous if no one was around to rescue them), and reassembled it with the pillow inside, and they'd switch off using it as a little cave sleeping place.

Makes it easier for them to travel when it smells like themselves and is familiar.

After my girls crossed the rainbow bridge, I washed and disinfected the carrier and gave it to the local humane society, figuring they might find a use for it since it was nice and large and took a back seat full of cat food and litter and dog food to them.

      •  As long as Buddy is happy (7+ / 0-)

sleeping in his carrier, I won't disassemble it...it's kinda like his own little kitty cave.

And I'm pretty sure he can't accidentally lock himself in b/c it's difficult for me to lock the door.  (Even if he did, well, I go home at night and could let him out.)
