However, to say the gun lobby is "on the ropes" is profoundly naive, and I'm sometimes irritated by Moore's habit of making such broadly exaggerated pronouncements (I recall after the Enron scandal, he basically predicted it was all over for Bush and he would be impeached).  The gun lobby is making plans and strategizing, and don't ever count on your opponent remaining off balance indefinitely.

It's just like the 2012 elections. We have the momentum, but we shouldn't assume that we win. We ALL need to work for it (like aggressive GOTV).

We sink or fall together on this one my friend!

      •  The point is not to treat it like a game (1+ / 0-)

where you win or lose - you have to treat it simply like a decision.  We CHOOSE to no longer tolerate this crap, and whatever comes from that will be whatever it is.

but on the other hand, there is no denying how being strategic AS WELL AS sincere and passionate can help your cause.

We all know that Obama can be both emotional/sincere and sly with his words (2012 campaign is still fresh in my mind. If not for his smart campaign, we may be saying president-elect Romney right now, so it cannot be discounted).

So no, it is not a game obviously, but you should still "play" smartly since in the end, if it helps increase the chances of passing bills that can save innocent children's from horrific mass death like this, even if by only a little, it's worth it in my book (unless the path there seriously harms others, but THAT much is obvious).

as losing so long as you remain focused and determined.  We will eventually get single payer healthcare because it's personal for most Americans - we suffer and our families suffer.  The same is now true of guns: We will achieve sanity in this nation's gun laws finally, because something like this makes it personal for everyone, not just some abstract issue to be debated by social engineers vs. paranoid nutcases.

            •  100% agreed now ;) (0+ / 0-)

"Losing" is only a setback. Sure, you'll do as much as you can to avoid, but you don't give up if your efforts fall short of our dream.

I just hope things like single payer and gun control come sooner than later (and we must stay engaged on the ground level).
