    Using that detachment thing we Aspies have, I see the diarist being honest and logical, and the commenter you are replying to as being caught up in a whirlpool of emotionalism.   Maybe this was a "trigger" that sent her back into a very painful memory.

    Mothers take a lot of blame for "imperfect" children, feel ashamed and guilty, feel anger they daren't express, fear the future, can't bear it and may blindly strike at/displace onto others.   Not cool, any of it, but it happens.
