  •  Are you advocating for a complete ban (0+ / 0-)

on all arms, as they have in the UK? Because that is primarily what I am advocating against.

FACT: No despot would attempt tyranny against an armed populace.

    Never happen.

It is a deterrent, this is all. Keep this in perspective. An armed populace is sufficient, because against an armed populace:

    (A) The cost would be too high.

    (B) You cannot use a nuke to selectively kill X% of a population, when it is safe to say that those fighting said  tyranny would presumably exist in every city and every town and every state. You would be using a sledge hammer the size of a mountain to kill a tic embedded into your arm. Such examples are foolishly naive and only someone who is completely ignorant of how gorilla warfare works would posit such examples.

    (C) Whose to say that in a tyranny half the military would not side against the despot government, and with an armed populace in the mix, that would be sufficient to sway the balance of power.

"Are you advocating for a complete ban..."

      No.

"FACT: No despot would attempt tyranny against an armed populace."

So Germany circa 1930s, Italy, China, North Korea, America pre-Revolutionary War... none of those places had guns? First I ever heard of that.

Tyranny has NEVER taken hold when people had guns? NEVER?

      Okay.

you are not advocating for a complete ban, then you and I have no conflict.

There is a difference between "having guns" and an "armed populace" .....

So Germany circa 1930s, Italy, China, North Korea, America pre-Revolutionary War... none of those places had guns? First I ever heard of that.
Of course there were people in Germany, Italy, China, and North Korea that had guns, but not the same as the USA.

And regarding: "America pre-Revolutionary War" ...

        (A) look what happened,

        (B) there is a difference between a remote colony and a tyranny or one's own government, and

        (C) look what happened.
