    •  Yes. Welcome as far as the office, (0+ / 0-)

or get a visitor badge, and get approved as a volunteer.

    •  Classes (0+ / 0-)

don't need a parent coming to the room and being a distraction while talking to their child for 10 minutes.  Doesn't seem like a lot to you, but what if several parents do that during a class?  There is a lot to cover and attention spans can easily be lost with small distractions.

These are not big deals, people. Just leave the lunch at the office.  If you insist on giving it to your child personally, have the child come to the office.

There are enough problems in the world to worry about.

      •  I've volunteered in multiple grade schools. At (0+ / 0-)

least four. I get being background checked. I get signing in. Etc. But after all that I've been sent here and there in the school to do various things inside the building. Escort Johnny to hearing test. Or test Suzie on reading in little room down hall. To the hall to staple up artwork displays. Library to shelve books. Art supply room to cut paper. Watch on playground. Type up kids' stories.

There have been other moms/dads going here & there also. I've always thought this was a plus. The kids seem to like it also. From the OP's words, it sounded like parents could no longer get further than the office.
