  •  My siblings and myself (8+ / 0-)

grew up with guns propped up in every corner of the house. My Dad grew up during the depression and hunting went a long way in feeding the family. Also he was a combat veteran of WWII and taught his kids the usefulness and dangers of guns. We lived on a farm in rural Ohio and hunting was something we did to help feed a family of 8. I still have guns and I look at them like I do my hammer or any other tool. I feel no empowerment when (which is rarely) I shoot them. I think that is what separates people like me from the gun freaks like my older brother. He was one of the first to get a concealed permit when Ohio passed that damn law.

As a citizen of Ohio, I feel less secure since they passed the concealed carry law. I know a lot of people with permits that, I swear, would love to have a reason to pull their weapon and start shooting (my brother). But, as exlrrp pointed out, they would probably piss their pants and do nothing (my brother).

I swear, the only time I think I would want a permit is to protect myself not from the bad guys, but from the people that have permits........
