  •  If this offer was a bluff that Obama knew they'd (11+ / 0-)

reject and it helps set up a more favorable negotiating stance for him, then I suppose it may have been worth the risk. But now that it's no longer an unsourced leak that could be real, a trial balloon or bluff, but an actual offer (that may still be a bluff), I sense that Obama's serious, and I fear that he's going to now do what he's always done, give Repubs an even better deal, which they'll reject too, leading him to give them an even better deal, and so on, until he all but offers to move out of the White House into a local Motel 6 so that Boehner can set up his tanning booth in the Roosevelt Room.

Does Obama not know what "no" means when negotiating with the GOP? Is the toughest he's ever likely to be when he's bashing the "professional left" (i.e. people who've been doing this since he was a child) or making one of his oh so serious "I'm not pleased" frowny faces (that invariably signal that he's about to do the very thing he claims he doesn't want to do)?

Boehner's found his buttons once again and is pressing them masterfully.
