  •  Contact OPM: Pratt's group is listed as a charity (0+ / 0-)

I haven't checked the United Way, but the federally run (by OPM) Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) has Pratt's group on its Charity List.  The CFC raises $millions every year from federal workers for hundreds of charities.  See http://www.opm.gov/....  The Director of OPM has the responsibility for determing whether a charity meets the eligibility requirements for being included on the list of charities.  The Director is John Berry who can be reached at John.Berry@opm.gov .  The CFC's mission is "to promote and support philanthropy ... and ... to improve the quality of life for all."  The CFC "support(s) eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world."

From what I can gather, Pratt's group doesn't comply with CFC regulations.  According to CFC Regulations found in Title 5, Part 950 of the Code of Federal Regulations , Section 950.202 specifies that the Director of OPM must certify that the organization "provides or conducts real services, benefits, assistance, or program activities".   Further, OPM must be able to "accurately determine the individuals or entities who benefited ... from the provision of real services."   "Mere dissemination of information does not demonstrate acceptable provision of real services. " http://www.ecfr.gov/...

Please contact John.Berry@opm.gov and challenge the CFC's inclusion of Pratt's group on the CFC Charity List.  Pratt's organization code in the CFC is 10042.  I'm currently having a back and forth with the CFC Compliance Officer (Mary.Capule@opm.gov) who claims that "by law, OPM is prohibited from considering an organization’s viewpoint or position on controversial issues as a basis for exclusion from the CFC.  See Cornelius v. NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, 473 U. S. 788 (1985)."  I've decided to go over her head straight to the OPM Director whose job is to determine eligibility.  I need all your help to get Pratt's group delisted.  Enough is enough!  I don't believe the federal government should facilitate the fundraising of an organization that advocates acts of treason such as threatening gun violence against our political representatives.  To see how Pratt's group is listed, go to http://www.pacificnwcfc.org/... and enter a search for the word "gun".
