    problem when what they really have is an idea problem. There base listens to talk radio that bashes minorities, working woman, and the LGBT community all day. They really aren't concerned with adressing the issues, problems, and concerns of those communities.

    So yes they think having Republican minority or woman politicians helps them and maybe at the margins it does. But when you don't speak to the issues and concerns of whole communities they won't EVER vote for you. Speaking as a black man, if some of the black Republicans spoke like the late Jack Kemp, even if I didn't agree with the majority of his platform I would listen to them. Just putting a black face on Tea Party rhetoric has no appeal with 95% of the black people I know.
