As a veteran, our use of drones appalls me.

I can see the connection between the two and the wrong in both.

I can also see the problem with the unequal application of our justice system.

      Can you?

Glad that you and the others who have and will rec think the daily death/murder of non-white Americans as "wrong" but as veteran you reserve your outrage for the drones.  Gotta love priorities!

        •  There are plenty of wrongs to warrant outrage (8+ / 0-)

Our criminal justice system is, well, unjust.

But there isn't a hierarchy here about which should be loudly protested, and which should not.

We should express outrage about all of this.

The human rights abuse/war crimes committed with impunity by a powerful nation against people of other nations is particularly troublesome, especially when so many remain silent. This is the intentional criminal murder of people by the hand of our own government, in which multiple deaths occur in a single instance of time. It is a horror of astounding proportion, and that is not an exaggeration. It demands outrage.

Minimizing it or trivializing it because there are also other abuses going on inside our borders isn't productive. All injustice should be opposed.

The fact is, there is so much injustice coming from so many directions in our society it is staggering, and difficult to address each issue everyday, so as to give equal treatment. To do so would be impossible.

And I would agree that the mistreatment of people of color in our society is ignored, in the same way that our war crimes are ignored. Ignorance is everywhere, and is an equal opportunity trait.

          Oh, right, you don't.

This is really a sad little comment from you.

Reccing a diary I agree with is not the same as prioritizing your life?

          Do you rec pootie diaries?

        •  Are you just trying to cause trouble. In diaries (0+ / 0-)

about drones we exercise outrage about drones. In education diaries we exercise outrage about education. And so on for gun control, Wall Street, health care, domestic crime and domestic violence. It is called staying on topic.

I can drink a beer and watch a baseball game too.

For the record, I also condemn the criminal street gangs who commit murders every day in America. I condemn the stupid, mindless, macho horseshit that escalates conflicts and turns every perceived act of disrespect a capital offense. I'd love us to do more to address the illegal gun market where criminals have easy access to guns. I'd love to see us legalize and regulate drugs so that the market for them isn't lucrative and underground.

But just as there tends to be much more community outrage after police shootings of unarmed people than exists for the daily violence of our cities, people can also demand that our military use force only in response to an imminent, life-threatening situations.

    •  I am as concerned with the plight of kids (0+ / 0-)

everywhere. Which is why I support comprehensive gun control, improved access to health care and education and decent food, water and a place to live for kids all over the world. That is why I am a progressive.
