I think it's an important point because referring to him as Republican support the both-sides-the-same meme and they're still miles apart.

Obama and most conservadems as far as I can tell support a significant government promotion of the general welfare, as do conservatives around the world, though they're obviously willing to wind it down.

The Republicans oppose the very concept, they've become libertarian on that issue.

... "fixing Social Security and/or Medicare" with the current proposals means both disabled people and senior citizens are screwed.

There's a 1.7% COLA for Soc Sec expected next year..., but the Medicare Parts A & B premiums that are deducted before the money is deposited in one's account is expected to rise by 5% (no word yet on price hikes for Medicare Part D, corporate prescription insurance we were forced to buy under Dumbya, but I'm guessing they'll go up), which is considerably more than the amount of the Soc Sec COLA, so even less money will be available for disabled or seniors to spend on food or medicine.

[As a senior citizen my only income is Social Security, and I have Medicare.  When one has a very limited income, one pays attention to even small amounts which can make a huge difference.]

I'm sick of attempts to steer this nation from principles evolved in The Age of Reason to hallucinations derived from illiterate herdsmen. ~ Crashing Vor
