still being somewhat sympathetic until we are seen as a drain.

so the trick will be allying with other groups: college age kids and eventually the vast middle.

      support occupy.

this has all gotten to the point where i am waiting for people to take action to save their necks.

unless we do something, forget about life on this planet.  the 1% want to do us all in.

unfortunately, obama is part of the 1% and it seems he has gone over there in a big way.

the idea that he could do this weeks after the election proves what i believed for a long, long time.

      •  The fact that he's doing this for NO reason... (14+ / 0-)

that I can come up with -- pragmatic or otherwise -- is even more disturbing to me.

I don't think we need to do anything with the Social Security program right now but if we are going to tinker with it to make it sustainable; it'd be more practical to just raise the cap. I heard Bernie Sanders (I think it was him) talking about this yesterday and he said raising the cap from $110 thousand to $170 thousand would make Social Security sustainable for the next 75 years.

the idea that he could do this weeks after the election proves what i believed for a long, long time.
Obama knows through experience that compromising capitulating does not work with Congressional Republicans. He KNOWS this. He's LIVED this.

Therefore, if these reports are indeed true, he's doing this in spite of just about everybody that voted for him.

It's a betrayal. I don't know any other way to take it.

If we had wanted entitlement cuts we would have voted for the other guy.

...is that board seat that's apparently  conditionally promised on the Goldman Sachs board (or some such).

Obama lied in the last election and got in and got many Democrats out of office thanks to a "wave" of disappointment in 2010 .

Those who thought that Obama had somehow changed were being incredibly Naive. Anyone who is over 50 and is still that Naive has no hope. We/You should know by now there are no ponies and dishonesty as practised in politics does not change because of an election. It's enhanced.

It 's more "in-our-faces" then ever before. We saw that with Obama in 2008. Human beings only come in one version. They always revert to the mean , especially when there is no penalty for behaviour that most disapproved of like negotiating with himself.

A weak president doesn't turn into a Strong president because of an election .  I'm amazed by people who thought they were electing someone different than they were in 2008. I thought this election was about not electing someone even worse. That was the only choice we were presented with. That was obvious when Democratic Operators used FUD to get Obama elected as he had no record to run on.
