  •  The fact that he's doing this for NO reason... (14+ / 0-)

that I can come up with -- pragmatic or otherwise -- is even more disturbing to me.

I don't think we need to do anything with the Social Security program right now but if we are going to tinker with it to make it sustainable; it'd be more practical to just raise the cap. I heard Bernie Sanders (I think it was him) talking about this yesterday and he said raising the cap from $110 thousand to $170 thousand would make Social Security sustainable for the next 75 years.

the idea that he could do this weeks after the election proves what i believed for a long, long time.
Obama knows through experience that compromising capitulating does not work with Congressional Republicans. He KNOWS this. He's LIVED this.

Therefore, if these reports are indeed true, he's doing this in spite of just about everybody that voted for him.

It's a betrayal. I don't know any other way to take it.

If we had wanted entitlement cuts we would have voted for the other guy.

...is that board seat that's apparently  conditionally promised on the Goldman Sachs board (or some such).

No one ever created a vibrant economy by building houses for each other. Houses are built because there is a vibrant economy.
