I half-watched with her. It was about water-bending and the two boys were being taught by their father and they were controlling and terrifying wolves and it was upsetting one of the boys who was more good-natured than his brother and his father. She laughed at my commentary, "That guy's an asshole! OMG-STAHP!!!! What the hell is he teaching these kids?! Is there an Avatar social services? This guy is unfit to be a parent!"

Of course she knows I'm pretending to be a lot more aloof than I really am. That's why she laughs. I guess it's my way of reinforcing the lesson since she makes me watch it. It's not a bad show at all. I can see why a lot of adults are into it.

And I'm glad I watched it with her because I understand the allegory now. Like folklore, it teaches a lesson by telling a story.

The fire-bending episode you linked has a great lesson within it as well so it's a good tool in this case. Thanks again! :-)
