    Ages 3, 5 & 8, around the ages of these children. We're pretty close, although I don't see them as often as I (or they) would like. Their mother, my sister, founded and ran a school for children their age, until she passed away several years ago. By the time I see them they may have forgotten about this tragedy, and it might not come up. But if they haven't, and it does, I'm not sure what I'm going to say to them. They've already lost someone very close to them, so death isn't an abstract and distant concept to them. One of these boys who died looks a lot like the 5 year old (also, like my nephews, Jewish).

    If it's hard for us adults to process this, imagine what it's like for children this young. When I was their age, death was a very scary thing.
