  •  They were made on gun designers too. (4+ / 0-)

The transfer bar in revolvers makes them much more safe to drop. The grip safety on the 1911 requires a solid hold or the hammer won't fall. The addition of that curved bit over the trigger, called a trigger guard. That little extra nub on the glock pistol. The design inside a glock that actually causes the pin to be unable to move unless the trigger is pulled - that's the glock method for drop safety.

All of which are design features intended to reduce the possibility of accidental discharges to as close to zero as mechanically possible.

On the other hand, we have the ford pinto debacle, where the accountants decided to act in a very different manner.

      and bullet micro-coded for traceability?

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.

Hollywood has space ships and flux capacitors. They aren't real.

Hollywood has microstamping. It doesn't work like they say. It's not durable. It doesn't last.

Just like the fox news has deceived some people into disbelieving in climate change, so too has hollywood deceived some people into disbelieving in the laws of physics that defeat such microcoding.

Your phrase sounds like it came from Demolition Man. Or Battlestar Galactica, the original series from the 70's.

And forensic ballistics is defeated by a simple bronze brush going up and down the barrel, which changes the ballistic fingerprint of the barrel into something different than what is on the bullets previously fired.

Seriously, shit from the bronze age defeats bullet/barrel matching. Can we please get into technology at least from after the romans collapsed?

is both physically possible, and relatively easy.

It is opposed by the NRA solely on the basis that law enforcement could only trace the gun to the last registered owner.

Which won't be a problem when all guns have to be registered, as they absolutely should.

Any attempts to defeat micro-stamping can very easily be made a felony, and we do not stop making laws because the criminals ignore them.

Your comment, and the tone of it, was out of place in a civil debate.
