Prayer is NOT forbidden, it is just not teacher/administrator/school personnel led. If a person wants to pray and carry his/her bible/holy book around...they have permission.
As a retired teacher, there was a lot of praying going around in schools - student led. There were "moments of silence" at assemblies and games, and Muslim students met in the Library for prayers. These people who think there is no praying in schools are just clueless...probably home-schooled or "private" schooled.

didn't have Islamic prayers in mind....scratch a school prayer advocate beneath the surface, and you'll find a Christian fundie a lot of the time. They can't grasp that a school can't possibly lead anyone in prayer because it invariably violates someone's rights, like mine, since I am an agnostic. My point to her is NJ is not WY, and we have in my local middle school Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, B'hai, Wiccans, Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Catholics ( not considered Christians by the fundies )Coptics, and plain old people who don't give a shit like me, along with atheists. There are others I probably left out. Oh, Jehovah's Witnesses.
