  •  President Obama should state that (6+ / 0-)

he looks forward to working with the next speaker to get a deal in place, then hop on AF1.

    •  If I was Obama (2+ / 0-)

I'd rather deal with Boehner than with whichever Tea Party favorite replaces him as speaker.  But not much.

out loud that Boehner's days as Speaker might be numbered. That kind of trash talk is gold during these kind of debates. Primarily, because it's absolutely true.

I know having some freak like Cantor leading the House would be disastrous for the nation, but the reality is we need to have a frank illustration of how stupid the teabaggers are and make sure that by 2014 they are run out of office. Nothing would do that quicker than the two years of hell the House would put the nation through under Cantor.

      •  Alas, most Teahadists are in safe districts (0+ / 0-)

Most of the Tea Party zealots are in districts where the GOP could run Donald Duck and win against any Democrat by double-digit margins.  The disaster of 2010 resulted in aggressively gerrymandered districts that are 100% safe for Republicans no matter what they do...except of course, if they vote to raise taxes or compromise with the Democrats; in those cases, they will lose a primary fight to an even more right-wing and intractable Teahadist who will, in turn, be elected because he has an "R" after his name.
