  •  New Balance Has Some Sneakers Made in USA (7+ / 0-)

The only major brand to do so.  Think it's roughly 20 percent of their sneakers (the rest of their production is in China, I believe).

So it's really unfortunate about their Chairman making what the company President called, a "private donation" to an independent group supporting Romney.

Still, they have a factory in Maine, and I'm sure a lot of the workers are Dems, as is a majority of that state, so I'll still buy New Balance.

Actions like his don't make it easy though.

    •  Thanks (0+ / 0-)

When he made the donation and released the statement there was a comment on DK from someone who checked their sneakers and found none of the NBs were made in the U.S.

We switched to them years ago when the publicity said they were made in the USA and hadn't checked then since, just buying on auto-pilot. After reading the comment we checked what we had and for over twenty pairs none were made in America.

Rather than eliminate them from consideration we'll go back to checking sneaker labels, giving NB a fair shot. Thanks for the information about the factory in Maine.
