  •  I just want to make sure that I understand (8+ / 0-)

    correctly what LaPierre is saying.

If I understand correctly, he is saying that his vision of the U.S. is a country where there are armed guards at the entrance to every public building, store, school, mall etc.  AND where films are censored so that any portrayal of the violence that these guns will inflict can't be shown.

Is that about right?   Is that the vision of America that he thinks we want?

Northern Ireland, to attend a conference.  This was back before the relative calm that they enjoy today.  Then, there were armed soldiers stationed at shopping malls, and all bags were checked before you entered.  It was terrifying, and I couldn't imagine going through this on a daily basis.  If this is what we have to look forward to, I think I'll investigate Canadian citizenship.

      •  I have a relative (0+ / 0-)

who toured for decades with various rock bands.  Never any problem until they hit Ireland in the 80's.  Because his last name could be Irish, he was forbidden to leave his hotel room except when on stage.

Not the sort of society anyone with a brain wants.

I am not religious, and did NOT say I enjoyed sects.

      •  I have Irish friends who came here because they (0+ / 0-)

were sick of living with the threat, not to mention deaths in their own families.
