    Your abuse is wild .

You may or may not know what brought down the Concorde ,
so I will tell you , a small piece of metal laying on the runway took down the Concorde .

Metal strip in Concorde crash 'off US jet'

A 17-INCH metal strip suspected of having caused the tyre blowout that triggered the Air France Concorde disaster may be from a jet belonging to the American carrier Continental Airlines.

A similar piece was found missing from engine cowling on a Continental DC-10 which took off from Charles de Gaulle airport minutes before the July 25 crash which killed 113 people. The part was said not to be vital for the DC-10's safety.

You can't doubt that the Concorde crashed , you can't doubt that the cause of the crash was a little bit of metal that poked a hole in a tire .

A 50 cal round will do as much or more damage as that little bit of metal sitting on the runway .

However IIRC correctly the Concords had unique tire problems because  because they were very small and fast rotating for a plane of that size.  After it was punctured, the tire delaminted and sent a large chunk of rubber ripping through the wing.

Plane tires blow out all the time BTW

      •  More abuse ? (0+ / 0-)

The Concorde was brought down by a small piece of metal laying on the runway . A 50 cal can and will do more damage than a small piece of metal laying on the runway .

Plane tires blow out all the time BTW
Do you want to get into how many and why ? And the damage caused by ? Or do details like that cause you to become abusive ?

      •  50 cal to the blades past V1 ... (0+ / 0-)

Here, a Training Captain on widebody twin-jets for a major British airline talks us through the hazards faced during an airliner take-off.

         11:ENGINE FAILURE

Engine failure is the biggest worry on take-off; it can occur at any time. Slower than V1 you abandon the take-off, remembering you have reduced reverse thrust available to aid braking.
