    Always a good thing to know and gets people interested in science of all sorts. Might even get an innovator hooked on a problem or three. "Ohh cool! I wonder what caused it to do that and what would happen if I..."

    That facet of physical science is best demonstrated by experiments in Materials Science. It's a great starting place for other fields and yet has enough twists and turns that anyone could spend a lifetime plus investigating cool things... if they could pay the bills and keep themselves fed.

      every time someone came up with a nice elegant rule for why a group of materials behaved the way it did someone else found a member of that group that shot that theory to pieces.  There's always going to be work for grad students and interns.
