    when CFLs came out, it was the same problem... The first ones were really cool/blue light. My guess is that these were designed by engineers, who thought that a full-spectrum light like sunlight would obviously be superior. but, they had little aesthetic sense, and people find a yellower light more appealing (more like a campfire).  Eventually, they've figured this out... and you're right - if you just take notice, you can find bulbs with a warmer color temp.

    Freedom isn't free. So quit whining and pay your taxes.

      When LED bulbs came out for flashlights they were the cats meow, I could really see inspection  instructions in gloomy fuel tanks in aircraft wings, as opposed to squinting.
